2025 Grantmaking

For the 2025 funding cycle, the Pride Charitable Fund reviewed applications from nonprofit organizations serving and led by the LGBTQ+ community in Greater Kansas City. Grant decisions were guided by the Fund’s commitment to strengthening and sustaining LGBTQ+ organizations and prioritizing programs that advance health, safety, belonging, and opportunity for LGBTQ+ individuals across the KC region. Based on these criteria, four organizations were selected to receive grants of $5,000 each.

2024 Grantmaking

In 2024, the Pride Charitable Fund continued to support the work of LGBTQ serving and LGBTQ lead organizations in Kansas City. Advisors used the Community Foundation resources and the CFI responses to identify eligible nonprofits. Priority was given to organizations that:

  • Aligned with the Pride Fund Values
  • Are supporting work that responds to the most significant disparities as identified by the Voices of Pride Needs Assessment
  • Serve LGBTQ children and families in Kansas City, Missouri, or Jackson County, Missouri

2023 Grantmaking

In its second year of grantmaking, the Pride Charitable Fund awarded seven grants to LGBTQ serving organizations with an average grant size of $1,497. The Fund continued some of the strategies adopted in their first grantmaking year, including awarding grants without an application to decrease the administrative burden on nonprofits and ensure the process was reflective of grant size. The Pride Fund values remained a central decision-making component of grantee selection and the advisors were supported by the Community Foundation in identifying organizations working with the LGBTQ population. At the end of 2022, the Pride Fund received a donation that was restricted for grants to organizations that serve LGBTQ children and families in Kansas City, Missouri or Jackson County, Missouri which provided a new component to 2023 grantmaking. Those earmarked dollars were used to support two of the seven grantees.
